India's largest heliport to come up in Noida; project to follow Jewar airport model

Noida: Noida is all set to get the country's largest heliport, designed for helicopter takeoffs and landings, under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The Yogi Adityanath government has given a nod to the construction of the upcoming Noida heliport and the Noida Development Authority has been working on this project for the last five years.

On the lines of the Jewar airport model, the Noida Authority will set up a heliport in Sector 151 A and a tender is likely to be floated this week. Land and development rights will be given to a private agency for a time span of 30 years after the parties sign a concession agreement.

Noida Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari confirmed the development and said that the Noida heliport will be based on the upcoming Jewar Airport. The Noida Heliport will be easily accessible to the upcoming Noida International airport, both of which are located near to the Yamuna Expressway.

The authorities intend to offer 9.35 acres of land to a private agency in Kambakshpur village to construct the heliport near the Yamuna Expressway. The modern heliport, having a capacity to park multiple helicopters, including Mi-172, will be built at a cost of approximately Rs 45 crores and will be able to operate big and small helicopters. The interested agency will have to share the revenue with the authorities and the highest bidder who qualifies in the bidding exercise will take up the construction of the heliport.

The Noida heliport will have a 15 metre tall air traffic control system (ATC) and a parking lot where 50 cars can be parked. The helipad will be developed with four aprons having a capacity to book ten helicopters at any given time. Maheshwari said that the heliport can also handle the parking of Bell and Mi series of helicopters and hangers will also be built. The authorities are also planning to start shuttle services to nearby tourist destinations to boost tourism.
