Meghalaya govt issues show-cause notice to FlyBig airlines

Shillong: The Meghalaya government has issued a show-cause notice to FlyBig airlines for failing to provide services as agreed upon. The airlines which was operating Shillong to Delhi flights had stopped their services since September.

Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma said the deal was signed just before the pandemic had struck which was a major challenge for the airline to get wet lease on the aircraft.

“They were supposed to use the Q400 aircraft but that challenge continued for them.  In the meantime, since there was pressure from the government, they (FlyBig) went ahead and had an agreement or a tie up with Spicejet, which has secured Q400 aircraft. They used that while they were still trying to get their own aircraft,” the CM said.

During the process, Spicejet disagreed to extend the contract, leaving Flybig in no position to provide services any further.

“We have already served them a show-cause notice and are very concerned about this. I have been really wanting this to take place, so we will decide the next course of action,” he said.
