Steady growth in traffic recorded at Kochi International Airport

Kochi: Amid the dip in the number of new Covid-19 cases across the city, the Cochin International Airport Ltd (Cial) has been recording a steady growth in traffic.

With the aviation sector on the path of revival, around 150 aircraft have moved daily from the international airport.

As per the report published by the Times of India (TOI), during September-November 2021 the airport logged a passenger traffic growth of 110 per cent compared to the same period in 2020.

The report revealed that Cial has handled 11,891 aircraft movements in September-November 2021, which is 62 per cent more than the previous period. The report also revealed that the airport has also facilitated 6,73,238 international passengers during the three months.

The domestic passenger traffic stood at around 6,85,817. Similarly, the cumulative passenger volume was at 13,59,055 compared to 6,46,761 during the same period in 2020.

Cial managing director S Suhas was quoted as saying by TOI, "Kochi airport has ensured that there is more connectivity than ever before."

On December 10, the airport witnessed peak traffic with 23,029 passengers and 154 aircraft movements.
