Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project of making India a drone hub is likely to be unveiled during the forthcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. Highly placed government sources said some 2,000 drones of various companies will light up the skies in Gandhinagar on the evening of January 10 or 11.
Sources said it is PM Modi’s vision to create “intellectual property” in the domain of drones by putting them to use in a big way for delivery of goods, security purpose and others.
A liberalised regime of rules related to drones was announced on August 25 when the Cabinet approved their incentives-linked production. “The drone show will be organised during the Vibrant Gujarat summit to showcase the use of drones in daily life. The show is expected to be witnessed by 20,000-25,000 people at the MP Theatre (Central Vista) in Gandhinagar,” a source said.
