Two men held at Bengaluru airport with gold paste worth Rs 41 lakh concealed in rectum

Bengaluru: In yet another case of gold smuggling, officials arrested two men at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru for hiding gold paste worth Rs 41 lakh in their rectum.

According to a report published in The Times of India (TOI), the suspects were hiding 430 grams of gold paste each in their rectum.

The cost of the gold seized is said to be around Rs 41.6 lakh and the seizure was made on Tuesday from the two men who were from Delhi.

On Tuesday, when officials were on duty at the terminal where a Flydubai flight arrived from Dubai, they intercepted two men who were behaving in a suspicious manner.

The officials questioned them on their visit to Dubai but they failed to give satisfactory answers. During further investigation, they confessed to smuggling gold.

The accused have been booked for evasion of customs duty.

Earlier on January 12, customs officials at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport seized gold weighing 1.48 kgs and valued at Rs 72.80 lakh from three women passengers.
