Flybig expands its full operations to Arunachal, Rijiju tweets

Itanagar: Union Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju on Sunday said that Flybig Airline has expanded its “full operations” to the frontier state of Arunachal Pradesh, connecting Pasighat and Tezu.

Rijiju also said that efforts were on to complete the construction of Hollongi airport near here “by the end of 2022” to connect the state capital.Flybig had first commenced its commercial flight services in the state from Pasighat in East Siang district to Guwahati in May 2021 and then to Tezu airport in Lohit district from the Assam capital, the gateway to the Northeast, in August last year under the Government of India’s Regional Connectivity Scheme, UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik).Taking to his Twitter handle, Rijiju wrote: “I’m happy that Flybig Airline has expanded its full operations to the frontier state of Arunachal Pradesh connecting Pasighat and Tezu.”Regarding the under construction Greenfield Airport at Hollongi, the Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal West constituency, further tweeted, “All efforts are on to complete the Airport construction at Hollongi by the end of 2022 to connect Itanagar.

”Though the initial target for completion of the airport project was November 2022, the central and state government authorities were pushing for its commissioning by August 2022, official sources had said.The foundation stone for the ambitious project was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 9, 2019.
