HAL asked to make minor changes at Nashik airport

Nashik: The team from Bureau of Immigration, which recently inspected immigration checkpoints and other infrastructure at the Nashik airport created by the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), has suggested few minor changes in the new set up.

Sources from HAL said the changes are being made and the work is expected to be completed shortly. The team from immigration bureau will conduct a fresh inspection in March this year before giving its nod. Once approved, Nashik airport will be allowed to operate international flights.

“The work on the infrastructure required for immigration checkpoints started in November 2020 after approval from the Union home ministry,” an official from HAL said.

The HAL has set up up facilities like separate sections for international arrivals and departures, customs office, immigration counters, among others at the airport under the guidance of th Bureau of Immigration (Mumbai).

The HAL has segregated domestic and international wings at the airport with separate entry and exit points. “The team suggested some minor changes in the infrastructure like constructing public toilets and another cabin to check documents of the international travellers or for any other official use,” the official said.
