As visibility improves, flight operations resume at Srinagar airport

Srinagar: After remaining suspended for the entire day on Wednesday, flight operations at the Srinagar airport resumed on Thursday after an improvement in visibility. The air traffic to and fro Kashmir has started again after remaining affected for about two days due to bad weather following heavy snowfall across the valley, news agency PTI reported.

Kuldeep Singh, director, Airport Authority of India (AAI), Srinagar airport, told Greater Kashmir that visibility has improved to 1500M and flight operations are commencing at Srinagar airport. An official informed that after the visibility improved, Spicejet flight SG 160 landed at Srinagar.

The flight operations were disrupted for the second consecutive day on Thursday due to low visibility following heavy snowfall across the valley.

Officials told PTI that the flight operations have resumed at the Srinagar airport in the afternoon. The operations commenced after the visibility at the airport improved from about 800 metres in the morning to about 1500 metres. Earlier in the day, two flights were cancelled and all were delayed in the morning due to bad weather.

On Thursday morning, the official Twitter handle of Srinagar airport in a tweet said, "The visibility at our airport is 800M. All flights are delayed. The flight operations will commence on improvement of visibility." (sic)
