This new hotel near Kullu airport could be your base to explore Parvati Valley

The road to Parvati Valley is lined with many hotels and homestays, but few, if any, offer the creature comforts that the ones towards Kullu and Manali now afford. This means an inevitable tradeoff between time on the road and the small luxuries (like a spa) that one would like on a holiday. A new hotel just off the Kullu-Manali highway and a 10-minute drive from Bhuntar airport is now offering a cosy base to explore the region.

Echor Palm Bliss Riverside Resort & Spa features 12 rooms. Choose carefully—just six rooms open up to views of the pool and the Parvati River. Each of them is kitted out with four-poster beds, a sit-out to enjoy your morning cup of tea, and a desk in case you’re carrying work along.

When the weather holds up, spend your days practicing yoga in the garden or swimming laps in the pool overlooking the river. In the winters, when the temperatures range between -10 to 10 degrees Celsius, cosy up in the spa with a steam room. You can also take the stairs down from the property and curl up by the bonfire or savour a candlelight dinner by the river. Get a taste of Himachali food at the Pyramid Club, which also serves dishes from around the world. The hotel also doubles up as a venue for an intimate wedding in the mountains, with 280sqm of indoor banqueting space and open-air lawns.

You may never want to leave the comforts of your room, but that’s a good thing since there are just a handful of things to do in Kasol. There’s a river-rafting spot 15 minutes away from the property, and the one-day Kheerganga Trek, which takes you deep into the Parvati Valley. The mysterious village of Malana is an hour away, and about 25km from the property is Manikaran Sahib, a pilgrimage site famous for its gurudwara and healing hot springs. If you’re up for a drive, Himachal’s picturesque Tirthan Valley is a three-hour journey.
