Gold smuggling case: ED to record statement later after Swapna Suresh cites poor health

Thiruvananthapuram:The Enforcement Directorate (ED) probing the gold smuggling case will record the statements of accused Swapna Suresh later as she cited poor health and requested two days to appear before the probe agency.

Swapna Suresh was asked to appear before the ED for questioning after she made fresh revelations against another accused and senior IAS officer M Sivasankar.

Suresh had said that M Sivasankar, Kerala Chief Minister's former principal secretary and an accused in the case, was behind the smuggling.

A day after Sivasankar announced an autobiographical book narrating his version of events in the case, Swapna Suresh came out against the senior IAS officer, accusing him of 'manipulating, exploiting and destroying' her life.

Her statements came after M Sivasankar alleged that Swapna trapped him and claimed he was the victim in the case.

Swapna Suresh further said that it was Sivasankar who was behind the two audio clips that were released while she was under ED custody. The clips had given clean chit to the CM's office in the gold smuggling case.
