SpiceJet Cancels Flight After Passengers Board Aircraft At Pune Airport, Cites Engine Failure As Reason And Passengers Made To Disembark

On Tuesday, a Pune-Tirupati SpiceJet flight was unexpectedly canceled causing inconvenience to 92 passengers.

The boarding for the plane was completed at 4 pm and around 4:30 pm was the announced departure time of the flight. The passengers were on the plane for more than half an hour. However, the passengers were advised by the staff of SpiceJet to return to the terminal at around 6:30 pm. Various attempts were made to reassure the passengers like sending messages to them regarding the new departure time mentioning engine failure and the repairment. In the end, the flight was canceled.

While talking to Punekar News, Sandeep Belsare, Chairman, Pimpri-Chinchwad Small Scale Industries Association, said “We booked the flight because it is convenient and is not time-consuming. If we knew beforehand that something like this was going to happen then why didn’t we travel by train then? What if we were on a plane and there is news about engine damage, what would have happened then? We want answers from SpiceJet. We spent thousands of rupees on flight tickets, hotel rooms, etc. This is a lot of damage to handle both financially and mentally. Now we want our money back. We demand Rs one lakh for each passenger”.
