Bengaluru: Flyer booked for mid-air sexual harassment

Bengaluru: Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) police have booked a 29-year-old man for allegedly sexually harassing a woman passenger on a flight to the city from Delhi on February 28.

The woman, a 34-year-old private company employee from the city, approached police soon after landing here and filed a complaint against the accused, Abhishek Kumar Singh, resident of Barkagao village in Siwan district of Bihar.

Based on the complaint, cops booked Singh under IPC section 354A (sexual harassment).

According to sources, cops have issued notice to Singh, asking him to appear before investigation when summoned. He told police he was on a private visit to the city.

According to the woman, Singh was sitting next to her and tried to speak to her a couple of times.

“Our flight took off from Delhi around 6.10am on Monday. After 30 minutes, the man sitting next to me leaned on my shoulder and I distanced myself. He tried speaking to me by asking me whether I needed a napkin and I said no. Since I was tired, I slept off. However, a little later, I woke up on realising that he was touching me inappropriately. I shouted at him and he took away his hands. I called an air hostess and told her what had happened. She asked him to sit in another place but he refused. I got up and changed my seat. I seek legal action against the man, Abhishek Kumar, for sexually harassing me,” the complaint read.
