Mangaluru: Customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport have thwarted an attempt at gold smuggling on Saturday.
They seized 24 carat purity gold of net weight 560 gram, valued at Rs 29.1 lakh.
Customs officials said that the gold was seized from a passenger arriving from Dubai, who hails from Bhatkal. The yellow metal was packed in three oval shaped packets in paste form, and was concealed in the body.
Earlier too, people trying to smuggle gaold in this fashion have been nabbed at the airport,
