The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai crime branch arrested a 32-year-old Nigerian and recovered 80 gm of cocaine worth Rs 24 lakh from his possession.
The accused, identified as Chukwuma Ogbonna Nwaeke, was nabbed during patrolling near the new Air India Colony on Friday night, an official said.
As per PTI reports, Nwaeke, who was moving suspiciously in the area, tried to flee after spotting police but he was nabbed by the team after a chase.
Police suspect that he is a member of an international drug syndicate involved in the smuggling of cocaine and mephedrone and that a few more Nigerian nationals are involved in the racket.
