Man steals co-flyer’s watch at Bengaluru airport, nabbed

Bengaluru: A passenger pocketed an expensive wristwatch of a fellow flyer at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) after the latter placed it on a tray for scanning as part of pre-departure security check. While the suspect managed to fly out with the watch, Central Industrial Security Force staff tracked him down to Mumbai airport and retrieved the watch.

The incident unfolded on Tuesday when a Mumbai-bound passenger reached the CISF security ring and placed his wristwatch on the tray along with his handbag and other belongings. CISF sources at KIA said he forgot to collect the watch after clearing security. He soon returned, only to realise it was missing. With the area under 24x7 camera surveillance, CISF sleuths checked CCTV footage and found another passenger stealing the watch and walking away. The security team figured that the suspect had travelled to Mumbai. He was tracked down by CISF personnel at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, where he was nabbed and the watch retrieved.
