CISF personnel recover $41,000 concealed in false bottom of bag at IGI T3 airport; one held

New Delhi: CISF surveillance and intelligence staff deployed at check-in area of Termainal-3 of IGI airport noticed the suspicious activities of a passenger in the wee hours of Monday.

He was diverted to a checking point for thorough inspection of his luggage. During x-ray screening through X-BIS machine of one of his bags, CISF personnel noticed suspicious image in the false bottom of the bag.

The matter was told to senior officers of CISF and Customs officials.

Later, the pax was brought to custom office where on thorough checking, 41000 USD (100 X 410 ) worth approximately Rs 33 lakh was recovered from the false bottom of the bag.

Upon enquiry, he could not produce any valid document for carryinh such huge amounts of foreign currency.

The passenger, along with the seized currency, was handed over to Customs officials for further action in the matter.

The passenger was later identified as Arjun Kumar Yadav (Indian), bound for Bangkok via Kolkata by Spice jet flight no. SG-8263 and from Kolkata by connecting flight No. SG-742.
