Mangaluru: Two Air India Express (AIE) flights bound for Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) were diverted to Bengaluru on Monday due to inclement weather. The flights are IX 0816 (Abu Dhabi to Mangaluru) and IX 0384 (Dubai to Mangaluru).
While flight IX 0816 with 145 passengers on board was diverted at 4.40am, flight IX 0384 with 163 people on board was diverted five minutes later. Both flights had six crew members each. Flight IX 0816 was scheduled to land at 4.45am and flight IX 0384 five minutes earlier.
Flight IX 0384 finally landed at MIA from Bengaluru at 4.35pm and departed for Dubai as flight IX 0383 at 6.30pm. Flight IX 0816 too landed at MIA at 5pm and departed for Muscat (MCT) as flight IX 0817 at 6.10 pm.
Air India Express provided food and refreshments for passengers of flight IX 0817 at the airport as they had already cleared immigration and security checks and accommodated those scheduled to fly out on flight IX 383 in a hotel by arranging buses to ferry them to and from the hotel, said sources.
