On-time performance of major airlines deteriorates for straight 3rd day

The on-time performance of major airlines has deteriorated consecutively for the last three days on the back of multiple reasons, such as sick leave of staff and bad weather, a Zee Business report said.

The aviation sector is likely to witness the entry of two new airlines mostly this month – Air Akasa and Jet Airways.

According to the report, about 40 per cent of SpiceJet and 28 per cent of IndiGo flights were delayed on July 8, 2022. And, the same situation was also seen on the following day, as 25 per cent each of SpiceJet and IndiGo flights were delayed.

Even on Sunday, July 10, around 18 per cent of IndiGo and 20 per cent of SpiceJet flights were delayed, mainly the bad weather was the reason for the delay in flights on Sunday, the report said.

This is mainly because IndiGo's cabin crew delayed its operation as the technical staff fell ill, and this was mainly on Saturday night. The employees assigned on the shift did not come to Hyderabad and Delhi airports, moreover, the employees have also been demanding salary and wage revisions.
