Man held for making hoax bomb call after boarding Delhi-bound flight

Patna: A man was apprehended by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel at the Jayprakash International Airport for allegedly making a hoax call of presence of a bomb in the aircraft after he boarded a Delhi-bound flight with his parents on Thursday evening.

The man was identified as Rishi Chand Singh Bedi, who hails from Lucknow and works in a Godrej company. He was going to Delhi with his parents in IndiGo’s flight (6E- 2126) at 8.30pm. Soon, after he boarded the flight, he started shouting that he will not go as there was bomb in the aircraft, said Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh. “The parents of the passenger slapped him 2-3 times for making hoax call but it has already spread panic among the flyers. As a precautionary measure all the passengers were de-boarded,” he said.

The airlines crew and passengers on board started panicking, after which the aircraft departure was terminated and all the passengers have been safely evacuated from the flight. The aircraft was parked at an isolated place and the bomb squad team has been called for the thorough check of the flight.

The DM said that the man is said to be mentally unstable, but he was detained by the CISF and being questioned further.

Team of Patna airport police station has also reached the city airport premises. SHO Vinod Peter said passengers were evacuated and search operations continued. “According to Bedi’s parents, their son work in Godrej company in Patna and they live in Delhi. Few days back, they get the call from the company that their son’s sound unwell and they should take him. They reached to Patna and were returning back to Delhi on Thursday evening. After the trio boarded the flight, the man was reluctant to go.
