Ghana national arrested at Bengaluru airport with 104 cocaine capsules in belly

Bengaluru: A 53-year-old Ghana national was arrested from Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on Monday with 104 cocaine capsules worth Rs 13.6 crore inside his stomach.

The man identified as Baah Ampadu Kwadwo was arrested by the Customs officials soon after he landed in the city on Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 690 from Addis Ababa -- the capital of Ethiopia, a Times of India (TOI) report said.

A native of Ghanian capital Accra, Baah Ampadu Kwadwo had reportedly swallowed 104 capsules before boarding the six-hour direct flight. A hospital scan confirmed that the man had swallowed the drug pills and they were removed over a medical procedure that lasted for three days, the report said. The procedure involved in the removal of the pills is very long as the breakage of the capsules inside the body could cause drug overdose and kill the person. The man was carrying 1.2 kg of cocaine in his stomach.
