Kolkata businessman held for duping people on pretext of providing airline job

Kolkata: A Kolkata-based businessman has been arrested by the Kolkata Police for duping people on the pretext of providing an airline job. The accused, identified as Biplab Sinha Mahapatra, allegedly duped people by assuring them jobs in Air India.

A case was registered based on a written complaint against Biplah Sinha, who owns an aviation company. According to the complaint, his firm collected money from job seekers and duped them.

According to police sources, Biplab has three companies; Talento Aviation, Take Off Aviation and Three Step Aviation under the Sinha Group banner. He is also the owner and editor of a local digital media outlet. It is alleged that Biplah took money from students and they were threatened when they sought a refund.

A total of Rs 1,75,000 was taken from students in the name of application fees, course fees and security deposits and they were provided a fake appointment letter.

The Kolkata Police, acting on the complaint, arrested Biplab and his close aide Subhajyoti Chatterjee on Saturday evening.

"I agreed to do the course so that I can get the job as they promised. But money was taken from me in different stages but the job was not provided to me," Abhilash Singh, one of the people who were duped, told India Today.
