Cockroach in Air Vistara meal? Jet CEO thinks Twitter post is "hit job"; here's what happened

The Indian aviation sector is abuzz with activity with the privatisation of Air India, entry of Akasa Air, and rejuvenation of Jet Airways—all in a matter of past few months. The domestic aviation market is highly competitive and no company wants controversy on its hand in such an environment.

On Friday, a purported Air Vistara passenger by the name of Nikul Solanki shared a photo of what appears to be an airline meal. That’s usual, given posting food photos on social media is a trend in itself; however, the presence of a small brown piece in the upma featured in the photo made Twitter go berserk.

“Small cockroach in air Vistara meal,” Solanki captioned the photo.

The tweet went instantly viral and Air Vistara responded to the post immediately.

“Hello Nikul, all our meals are prepared keeping the highest standards of quality in mind. Please send us your flight details over DM so we can look into the matter and address it at the earliest. Thank you," wrote the Air Vistara handle in the quick response.

Solanki responded with the image of his boarding pass dated August 31, 2022.

This is when Jet Airways CEO Sanjay Kapoor tweeted about the incident branding it as potentially mischievous or “fishy” to be exact.

Kapoor, whose airline restarted operations two weeks back, was of the opinion that the Twitter user who tweeted the controversial image has just 8 followers and posted about the incident two months after flying with Vistara.
