Sanjay Jha meets Jyotiraditya, Purnia will get land for airport

Patna: State Water Resources Minister Sanjay Jha met Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and requested him to expand facilities at Patna airport and start construction for Purnia airport soon. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia shared the information about the meeting with State Minister Sanjay Jha by tweeting. He said that Jha discussed in detail the issues related to the construction of an international airport in Bihar. Jha’s meeting with the Union Minister took place on the instructions of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

The process of acquisition of 24 acres of land for night landing at Darbhanga airport will be completed by March 2023. The process of acquisition of 52.5 acres of land for the construction of the civil enclave will be completed by June 2023. He also suggested opening of a training institute related to civil aviation services near Darbhanga airport. He has assured that he will seriously consider this suggestion.

Sanjay Jha said that there has been an unexpected jump in airfares due to about one third of the number of flights from Darbhanga to SpiceJet due to technical and other reasons. In such a situation, SpiceJet should be increased the number of flights or any other airline company should be allowed for its quota flights. This will reduce fares for major cities. It was also requested to fix the maximum ceiling of rent.
