Chennai airport turns pink this October, holds 'Pink Pedal' cycle rally for Breast Cancer Awareness

Chennai: The Chennai Airport has donned the colour pink for the month of October to spread awareness about Breast Cancer. Nearly 100 cyclists took part in the 'Pink Pedal' cycle rally that was organised at Chennai Airport on Saturday, October 8, as part of Pinktober 2022.

The rally was flagged off by actor and swimmer Ms. Janane Prabhu from gate one of the Chennai International Airport at 6 am on Saturday.

This is the seventh edition of Pinktober which is organised jointly by the Airport Authority of India (AAI), a non-profit organisation called India Turns Pink and Kalyanmayee at Namma Chennai airport from October 1 to October 31.

The Chennai Airport took to its Twitter to share images from the event. Cyclists were seen holding posters related to Breast cancer awareness.

While the poster that one of the cyclists was carrying read, “The human spirit I stronger than anything that can happen to it,” another placard said, “dedicated to all who’ve lost the fight and to those who won’t quit the fight.”

Under this Pinktober initiative, 31 awareness campaigns will be organised on each day of October as a part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Moreover, a Pink Ribbon Walk was also organised at the airport on October 6. Nearly 200 students from Annai Veilankanni’s College, Saidapet, and CTTE College for women, Perambur participated in the walk that was undertaken between terminal 4 and terminal 1 at Chennai Airport.
