Air India urination case: Delhi court denies bail to Shankar Mishra

A Delhi court on Wednesday denied bail to Shankar Mishra, accused of urinating on a co-passenger on an Air India flight. Metropolitan Magistrate Komal Garg dismissed the bail application of the accused, saying it was not appropriate to release him on bail at this stage.

On Saturday, a magisterial court had sent Mishra to 14-day judicial remand.

Mishra had allegedly urinated on a 70-year-old woman in an inebriated condition in the business class of Air India flight on November 26 last year.

He was arrested on Friday.

Mishra had been booked under Sections 510 (misconduct in public by a drunken person), 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman), 294 (sings, recites or utters any obscene song, ballad or words, in or near any public place), 354 (intending to outrage modesty) of the Indian Penal Code as well as a section of the Aircraft Rules Act in a case registered at IGI airport police station.

The Air India airline itself has banned Mishra for 30 days.
