SpiceJet Ahmedabad flight delayed by over five hours

Pune: Around 50 passengers of SpiceJet's Ahmedabad flight on Sunday night had heated exchanges with the airline's staffers at the city airport over its five-hour delay, following multiple rescheduling posssibly because of some snag in one of the doors of the aircraft.Some flyers said they had received a message from the airline that the boarding of the flight, scheduled to take off at 8pm, would depart around 11.50pm. Several others claimed that they had reached the airport by 6pm as they didn't receive any updates.

One among them said he was waiting for the flight since 6pm. "I didn't get any message on the rescheduling of the flight," he said.

The flight took off only at 1.15am on Monday, another passenger said.

In a message sent to a flyer on the social media, the airline said the flight was delayed due to operational reasons. An official statement from SpiceJet on the delay was awaited till going to press.

"There seemed to be an issue with one of the doors. I reached the airport and completed all formalities by 9.30pm. But the flight kept on getting delayed. Boarding started around 12.50am. I had booked a cab from Ahmedabad and had to reschedule it multiple times because of the rescheduling," Sudhir Pegwar, a flyer, told TOI.

Jay Chaudhari, another flyer, said some passengers got involved in heated arguments with the airline's ground staffers.
