Air India Posts Love In The Air As Man Proposes Girlfriend Mid-Flight

In order to surprise his partner, a man took a connecting flight from Hyderabad to Mumbai and proposed to the woman as passengers clapped and cheered for the Indian couple on an Air India flight. In a video posted by a man named Ramesh Kotana, the romantic gesture is seen to be winning the hearts of internet users. “Marriage Proposal Made in Heaven Love is in the Air Wedding bells were ringing for a couple onboard an #AirIndia flight to #Mumbai when a man got down on one knee mid-air and proposed to his #fiancee, who was taken aback by the romantic gesture”, the caption reads.

The man went on his knees, proposing to his partner, and presented her with a heartfelt handwritten message on a chart paper offering her the proposal ring. The video shows the woman who, in no time surprised and overwhelmed by the gesture, walked out of her seat and went to hug him. The hug is being interpreted as a loving gesture hinting at a positive reply to the proposal.

The video that's been doing rounds on social media was shared by Air India capturing the man walking down the aircraft aisle holding a huge pink banner. The banner asked, “I could walk forever and a mile with you. Would you like to walk with me?" As the woman gets out of her seat, he goes down on his knee to propose.

Later Air India posted, “Love is in the air for this lovely couple flying on board our flight on 2nd Jan. She was flying from London to Bombay via Hyderabad. He took a Bombay-Hyderabad-Bombay flight. Don’t miss the surprise and joy as he proposes on bended knee."

Hindustan Times reported that officials said the man was familiar with a crew member and wanted to surprise her.  "The airline is our responsibility. My niece approached me saying that a friend wants to propose to his to be fiancĂ©e inside the aircraft who was traveling on Air India LHR/HYD/BOM and so the boy also booked the AI flight BOM/HYD/BOM on January 2 without her knowledge," said the Air India official onboard who assisted the couple.

“Nothing was required from Air India but only to allow him to propose," the official added.
