Accused's father sent, then deleted text: Air India flyer who was peed on

A Delhi court on Wednesday heard the bail plea of Shankar Mishra, who is accused of urinating on a woman co-passenger on an Air India flight. During the hearing, the lawyer representing the 72-year-old woman alleged that Shankar Mishra’s father, Shyam Mishra, had texted his client on the day the accused was arrested. Shyam Mishra had allegedly messaged the woman “karma will hit you back”. The message was then deleted, the complainant’s lawyer alleged.

The woman, through her lawyer, told the court that the father of the accused had messaged her on Friday.

When the court asked how the father of the accused got her number, the lawyer said, “That is exactly what Air India ought not to have done.”

The woman told the court that the airline had tried to mediate a settlement while they were in air. “Instead of separating them, they made the offender sit next to the victim,” the complainant’s lawyer alleged.

The woman alleged that she was being intimated through messages, adding that the accused and his family were coming to her house.

Shankar Mishra’s lawyer dismissed the allegations, calling them “baseless".

Shankar Mishra’s lawyer told the court, “Settlement amount given was Rs 15,000. Her son-in-law sent a mail that if she’s not given complete air ticket amount, she will disclose the incident to media.”

“After this mail from her son-in-law, she then decided to return the money. I did not want to get into this but baseless allegations are being made,” he further alleged.
