The customs officials at the Jaipur International Airport recovered gold worth Rs 56 lakh from two smugglers who had hidden gold inside their undergarments. The duo had reached Jaipur from Sharjah on Sunday.
The passenger who arrived from Riyad via Sharjah couldn't provide satisfactory answers to customs officials, following which a search was conducted.
During examination, officials found 2 silicon capsules inside the passenger's undergarments, after which 576 grams of gold was recovered. The seized gold is valued at Rs 33,69,600.
The second passenger had also arrived from Sharjah who was intercepted based on suspicion. During the search, 380 grams of gold worth Rs 22,23,000 was recovered from his possession. He had concealed the gold inside his pants.
A total of 956 grams gold worth Rs 55,92,000 was recovered.
