Bomb threat on Alliance Air's Ahmedabad-Delhi flight creates panic

Ahmedabad: Panic gripped Ahmedabad airport after a bomb threat call was received today. The threat call claimed that there was a bomb on Ahmedabad-Delhi flight. The person on the call claimed that there was a bomb on Alliance Air's 91696 flight.

After receiving the call, the Ahmedabad airport informed the police control room and a police team was rushed to the spot. No bomb was found on the flight.

After investigation, it was found that the flight was scheduled to take off at 5:20 am. When the authorities called a passenger who was yet to board the flight, he said that he won't come as there was a bomb on the plane.

When the person asked his name, he disconnected the call. After this, the airport staff informed the police. The passenger, who had to board the flight, arrived at the counter and said that the number and email address did not belong to him.

As per the investigation, the person on the call raised a false alarm about a bomb on the flight. Further investigation is underway.

Earlier on January 21, a Goa-bound chartered flight from Russian capital Moscow was diverted to Uzbekistan in the wee hours of Saturday following a bomb threat. Russia's charter plane of Azur Air had a total of 238 passengers on board, including 2 infants and 7 crew members.
