Aero India 2023 To Showcase Indigenous Aviation Assets Amid Push For Self-reliance

The Indian Government’s Defence Exhibition Organisation is all set to hold the 14th edition of the biennial air show and aviation exhibition called ‘Aero India 2023’. The show is scheduled to be held in February for a duration of four days from February 13 to February 17 at Bengaluru’s Yelhanka Air Force Station. Notably, amid a push toward achieving self-reliance in the defence sector, Aero India 2023 is set to exhibit various indigenous developments undertaken by aviation as well as the defence sector of the country.

As per a press release by the Indian Ministry of Defence, the five-day event will include a major trade exhibition of the aerospace and defence industries in addition to an aerial display by the Indian Air Force. A significant factor in the latest edition of the exhibition will be the participation of think tanks beside global leaders and big investors in the aerospace industry. Notably, Aero India 2023 will play a major role in furthering the scope of achieving self-reliance or ‘Atmanirbharta’ under the Make in India initiative.

The biennial aviation exhibition provides a unique opportunity for the exchange of ideas, information and new developments in the aviation industry. Furthermore, the scope of enhancement in the domestic aviation industry gets a boost. According to the press release, up to 731 exhibitors have registered for the event. Meanwhile, more than 540 exhibitors participated in Aero India 2021. Out of the registered exhibitors, 633 are domestic while 98 are foreign exhibitors.

Notably, organised on the theme ‘The runway to a billion opportunities’, Aero India 2023 is expected to be “the largest-ever aero show organised at Air Force Station, Yelahanka,” the MoD stated. Among the notable events on the sidelines of the exhibition is the Defence Ministers’ Conclave themed ‘Shared Prosperity Through Enhanced Engagement in Defence (SPEED)’, and a CEOs Roundtable conference.

Meanwhile, various MoUs are expected to be signed under the Manthan start-up event and the Bandhan ceremony. Aero India 2023 will showcase a paradigm shift bought by the Indian Government in organising such events, including DefExpo. The primary focus of Aero India 2023 is set to be on increasing defence exports and forging partnerships while pursuing the modernisation of the Indian Armed Forces.
