SpiceJet flights' delay rattles flyers in Pune

Pune: Delay and lack of information rattled flyers booked on two SpiceJet flights on Tuesday yet again.A Patna-Pune (SG-757) flight of SpiceJet was delayed by over seven hours. Scheduled to take off from Patna at 12.05pm, it was finally airborne around 7.15pm. The airline's Pune-Bengaluru (SG-532) flight, slated to depart at 3.40pm, flew only around 8pm owing to a technical problem, flyers stated.

Sidhartha Suman, a passenger waiting for the flight from Patna, said, "The plane was rescheduled at least four times. There is no one to answer to us and the ground staffers here (Patna) are rude. We have been sitting in a bus for 15 minutes, but the vehicle hasn't moved towards the aircraft. The moment a passenger retorts in frustration, they will label him or her as unruly flyer. What do we do?" Suman asked.

The passenger later told TOI that they had boarded the aircraft around 6.47pm.

The airline's spokesperson was contacted via WhatsApp message seeking reasons for the delay of the flights. But the response from the airline was awaited till going to press.

Ranveer Singh, who along with around 180 flyers, was waiting for the flight to Bengaluru said there were heated arguments between passengers and the airline's ground staffers.

"The flight's departure time was 3.40pm. The airline's ground staffers initially said it was delayed by half-an-hour, but multiple rescheduling started thereafter. The They later said an equipment in the aircraft had developed a snag and its replacement was coming on another airline's flight from Bengaluru, which too was delayed," Singh said.
