Air India extends last date for employees to apply for voluntary retirement till May 31

Tata-owned Air India on Monday announced that it is extending the last date for employees to apply for voluntary retirement. The airline is now taking applications for the process till May 31, 2023.

Air India said that the acceptance of the application and the date of release would continue to be subject to management discretion.

The airline, which was acquired by Tata Sons in January 2022, announced last year that the new owners would retain all employees for one year and that the group would offer a voluntary retirement scheme if it decided on retrenchment after.

"The winning bidder (Tata Sons) will retain all employees for the period of one year. In the second year, if they aren't retained, they will be offered VRS by the winning bidders," Rajiv Bansal, Secretary, Civil Aviation told then press, when the deal was finalised last year.
