Air India hiring at the rate of 600 cabin crew and pilots per month

Air India, India’s national carrier, is planning to hire 600 flight and cabin crew members a month in order to meet the growing demand for air travel.

The Tata Group airline is currently operating with a fleet of 122 aircraft, but it has plans to add 200 new aircraft over the next few years. This will require a significant increase in the number of flight and cabin crew members.

According to local news source Times of India, Air India Managing Director & CEO Campbell Wilson said that the airline was currently hiring at the rate of 550 cabin crew and 50 pilots per month.

The information comes amid the ongoing Tata Group restructuring plan which will see the evolution of one major full service carrier and one low-cost subsidiary.

Air India will add the aircraft to its fleet over the next few years; raising requirements for additional professional personnel.

The airline has placed orders for 140 A320neo and 70 A321neo single-aisle aircraft from Airbus, as well as 34 A350-1000 and six A350-900 wide-body jets from Boeing.

The A320neo and A321neo aircraft are the latest generation of single-aisle aircraft from Airbus. They are more fuel-efficient and have a longer range than previous generation aircraft.
