Star Air on Tuesday started operations from Pune to Bengaluru and Hyderabad while another airline is expected to start operations between the city and Madurai via Hyderabad from the next month. In addition, Pune will see fresh connections to Ajmer, Jodhpur and Indore in the next couple of months.
"It is good that the flights are increasing to and from Pune airport. We hope to see new connections in days to come," Pune airport director Santosh Dhoke told TOI.
Currently, the airport sees around 180 flight movements daily. Before GoFirst suspended operations, the airport recorded around 187 to 190 movements on a daily basis.
Before the pandemic, Pune airport recorded around 200 flight movements on some weekdays.
