Officials of the customs department at Lucknow's Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSI) on Tuesday recovered gold worth Rs 1 crore and 9 lakh. Two men were arrested in connection with the case.
Both the accused were residents of Bihar and had arrived in Lucknow from Dubai.
The duo was intercepted based on suspicion as they appeared nervous. A thorough check was conducted which led to the recovery of 1754.500 grams of gold worth Rs 1 crore 9 lakh from them.
The duo had hidden the gold in their private area.
The gold being smuggled was in the form of capsules, which were seized under the Customs Act.
