A man who was headed to Dubai was apprehended by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Tuesday at the Mumbai airport for carrying Dirhams (UAE currency) worth more than Rs 3 crore. The amount was recovered from his hand baggage which was put for security check in the X-ray scanner.
A total of 14,22,500 Dirhams, worth about Rs 3 crore as per current exchange rate, was recovered from his baggage. He was scheduled to fly to Dubai on an Emirates flight.
A CISF official told PTI news agency that the man could not produce any valid document for carrying the high volume of foreign currency and he was handed over to the customs authorities.
