No threat to Dabolim airport, many airlines seeking more slots: Mauvin

Panaji: Once again trying to put to rest the concerns that all international airlines will stop operating from Goa International Airport, Dabolim, transport minister Mauvin Godinho on Saturday said that airlines are in fact asking for more slots at the government-operated airport.

Godinho, who was speaking at Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s annual general meeting, said that the Airports Authority of India is expanding the airport terminal building in order to accommodate more passengers and flights.

“So many people are saying that international flights will move to Mopa. Whether it is foreign airlines or whether it is domestic airlines, they are asking for more slots at Dabolim. The number of airlines landing and taking off is only increasing at Dabolim,” said Godinho.

Two days earlier, Congress functionary Elvis Gomes had said that the government is pressuring all international airlines to shift all flights to Mopa.
