Thiruvananthapuram: A Chirayinkeezhu native was arrested from the airport on Sunday night for travelling to the Gulf on a fake passport.
The arrested was identified as Sajikumar (53), son of Sreedharan of Nandanam at Pandakasala near Chirayinkeezhu, forged a fake passport (K0734664) in the name of Perinad-native Nazeer, son of Haneefa Kunju.
Using the fake passport, the accused travelled to Muscat and worked there for a few years. When his passport expired, it was given for renewal at the Indian embassy in Muscat.
The embassy officials could not trace a passport in the number given by him, and during investigation it was found that the passport was forged. It was also found that no such person existed with the name.
Soon, he was deported to Kerala and was arrested at the airport by the duty officer of the bureau of immigration.
