Bengaluru: A 51-year-old man was arrested at Kempegowda International Airport for allegedly molesting a teenage girl aboard a Doha-Bengaluru flight.
The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday, June 27. The accused has been identified as Ammawasai Murugesan, a resident of Sivagnga in Tamil Nadu, and works at a private firm in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
As per the complaint filed the by girl’s father, the man was sitting next to the 13-year-old on the flight and started talking to her asking if she needed food or water. The girl’s mother initially thought he was just being courteous and told him she didn’t need anything, Deccan Herald reported.
But the accused continued to try talking to the girl and allegedly touched her private parts following which her mother raised an alarm to the cabin crew who shifted the girl to another seat and destined the accused.
Upon the flight’s landing at the Bengaluru airport, Murugan was arrested by the police early Wednesday.
A case has been filed against the man under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. He is now in judicial custody.
