Denied boarding flight after late arrival, woman slaps ground staff member of Akasa Air at Lucknow airport

Lucknow: A woman, accompanied by her husband, was booked and subsequently released on personal bond following an incident at Lucknow airport involving alleged misbehaviour with a ground staff member of Akasa Air.

The couple had arrived late and were consequently denied boarding for their flight. In their fury over the situation, the woman resorted to physically assaulting another female staff member of the airline by slapping her.

The incident took place on Sunday evening while QP 1525 was preparing to take off for Mumbai.

Speaking to TOI, Nimisha said, "The Mumbai-bound flight was set to depart at 5.05pm, and the last boarding was closed at 4.08pm, but the couple, along with their children, arrived at 4.18pm and asked for a boarding pass. By that time, the flight doors were closed, and I communicated to the couple our inability to allow them to continue their journey".

The spokesperson of Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport operator confirmed the incident to TOI.

"The couple became aggressive, especially the woman, after I denied them boarding. She insisted that her children had an exam the next day, but I expressed my inability to bypass the law. She came behind the desk, pushed me onto the chair, and slapped me. Following this, I called for help. Later, with the help of CISF, the passengers were handed over to the police," the 21-year-old Nimisha said.
