Residents of 13 villages in the Kanchipuram district in Tamil Nadu have been protesting relentlessly against the proposed Greenfield airport at Parandur, alleging it would result in the loss of agricultural land for these communities.

The protests began when the state government by Chief Minister MK Stalin announced that the new airport, intended to serve Chennai, would be built in the area.

The residents have been demanding the withdrawal of the project, citing the potential loss of thousands of acres of agricultural land which the government is planning to construct by taking the farmlands from 13 villages.
