Airport to get its first permanent power supply by Dec

Noida: The Noida power department is preparing to provide a permanent supply of 2MW to the under construction Jewar airport by December this year.

Though the airport will require an overall power supply of 95 MW by 2030, 2MW is the initial planned supply.

Officials from Tata Projects and the district power department visited the site to assess the current supply situation and infrastructure requirement for a permanent connection.and held a meeting for the same.

Currently, the under-construction project gets a temporary supply of 33/11kV from a line in Jewar.

“We had a meeting with the Tata Projects officials and UPPTCL regarding the preparation of permanent power supply to the airport site. The temporary supply line of 33/11kV faces frequent cuts as it has the load of rural consumers of the area. So for now, we have provided a separate feeder for the airport site on this substation which is now linked through the supply feeder of Jewar. We will be monitoring it for about a week,” Rajeev Mohan, chief engineer of Noida power department, told TOI.
