Flier at Coimbatore airport complains of chest pain before take-off, dies

Coimbatore: The take-off of an Indigo flight bound for Mumbai from the city airport was aborted at the last minute on Tuesday after a passenger complained of chest pain. He subsequently died. Police suspect that he had suffered a cardiac arrest.

The aircraft was scheduled to take off at 6.15am and reach Mumbai at 8.45am. According to an official source, the aircraft was about to enter the runway when Loganathan, 51, of Avinashi in Tirupur district, said he was having a chest pain. "As soon as the flight crew communicated the information to the pilot, the aircraft was brought back to the apron ," the source said. Airport director S Senthil Valavan confirmed the incident and said a paramedical team at the terminal immediately attended to the passenger. "He was later taken to a nearby private hospital."

A police source said Loganathan was shifted KMCH, where a doctor declared him brought dead. The body was handed over to his family members, who took the same to his native place.
