Airport drama after woman utters 'B' word

Kolkata: The CISF, in coordination with airline officials, conducted a secondary ladder point checking (SLPC) on a passenger after she uttered the word, "bomb", while standing in a queue at a boarding gate to catch a Bagdogra flight on Sunday afternoon.

The incident took place around 1pm when the woman, who was travelling with a child, was about to board a SpiceJet flight. Sources said she was frustrated with wait at the queues for multiple checks-the extra precaution is due to the heightened security measures ahead of Independence Day-and had casually mentioned whether the authorities suspected her of carrying a bomb.

An airline official overheard her and immediately alerted CISF officials, who made her undergo a second round of checks but allowed her to board the flight after nothing suspicious was found on her. She, too, apologised for saying aloud "bomb", which could cause panic among flyers.

No official complaint was lodged.
