Mizoram to get new airport to meet both Civil and IAF purposes

A new airport with heliport facilities is likely to be built and utilized for both civil aviation and Indian Air Force (IAF) operations.

In a meeting with Minister Zoramthanga, the chief of the IAF's Eastern Air Command, Air Marshal SP Dharkar, reportedly addressed security issues in Mizoram and other northeastern states.

The establishment of a new airport with heliport facilities that can be used by both civil aviation and the Indian Air Force has been discussed by the Chief Minister and the Air Marshal.

According to Zoramthanga, the government has already chosen two areas for the proposed airport in southern Mizoram, which is bordered by Bangladesh and Myanmar.

The medium-sized Lengpui Airport in Mizoram, which is surrounded by beautiful green mountains, offers air service from the hilly state to Guwahati, New Delhi, and Kolkata.
