An international gold smuggling gang has busted and arrested six people, including an airline employee, by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Mumbai on Sunday.
According to officials, 7.4 kg of smuggled gold worth Rs 4.51 crore was seized from the accused.
They added that the gang was smuggling gold from Dubai to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.
According to DRI sources, the passenger was supposed to travel by air and reach Mumbai. Then the passenger puts the gold on his seat and leaves. The gold was then smuggled from Mumbai airport with the help of an airline employee.
