Chennai: Customs sleuths at Chennai airport seized ball pythons and a black squirrel from a passenger who arrived from Bangkok, Thailand, on Wednesday night. This is the second similar seizure of wildlife species within 10 days.
Air intelligence unit intercepted a man who arrived from Bangkok. A search on his checked-in baggage led to the seizure of 16 ball pythons of different varieties as well as a black squirrel.
All the species were found active. They were identified with the help of wildlife officials. They were given appropriate feed.
The snakes and squirrel were deported to Bangkok.
