Ahmedabad: A businessman from Lunawada, Dipak Doshi, was taken aback upon reaching Dubai when he discovered his bag's lock was broken and cash amounting to $12,000 (Rs 9.91 lakh) was missing. Doshi filed a theft complaint with the Airport police on Tuesday.
According to Doshi's statement, he scanned five bags at the counter before boarding a SpiceJet flight to Dubai from Ahmedabad airport on August 12.
Upon reaching his brother's residence in Dubai at 8pm, he noticed that the tags put on the luggage by the Airport Authority of India (AAI) and SpiceJet had been tampered with. Upon inspection, he realized that the dollars he had placed in one of the bags had gone missing.
Doshi promptly informed SpiceJet's office about the missing money and also registered a complaint online with both SpiceJet and the AAI.
After returning to India, he took the matter further by officially filing a complaint with the Ahmedabad airport police station, alleging that the theft had occurred within the premises of the airport.
