38-year-old returning to Chennai from Muscat dies on flight

Chennai: A 38-year-old passenger returning to Chennai from Muscat allegedly died mid-air in a case of suspected cardiac arrest on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as K Dhanasekaran of Ilayankudi, Sivaganga district.

Dhanasekaran was working in Muscat and was returning home for vacation, police said. When the flight landed at Chennai international airport on Sunday, Dhanasekaran was found seated even after all the passengers alighted.

The cabin crew thought that he was asleep and tried to wake him up. Since there was no response, the crew checked him and found him unconscious. They later alerted ground authorities.

A medical team took him to the emergency medical centre in the airport. After checking his vitals, the doctors declared him dead. Airport police recovered his body and sent it for post mortem. The family members have been informed, police said.
